Heads Up…07/07/23

Dear Parents & Carers,

Well the rain did not stop us on sports day!!! It was a very wet start, but a great finish! Thank you to all the children for their amazing participation, and to the adults who joined in too! There are some great pictures on Tapestry, please do have a look.

Pyjama Day: Thank you for all coming in wearing your pyjamas today! Please donate to our Pyjama day fundraiser here: https://fundraising.helpingherts.com/helpinghertsweek

Helping Herts raise money for 12 local charities that support children and young people in the county. Their full website can be visited by clicking here www.helpingherts.com. They have a number of great blogs about Hertfordshire on there that may also be of use to help to plan activities for the Summer holidays.

Returning Uniform: If your child is leaving Tenterfield then we welcome you to return any old school uniform that you will not require anymore. We use this to sell as second hand uniform in September. Many thanks!

Summer reading challenge: Welwyn Community Library is delighted to announce this year’s Summer Reading Challenge:  “Ready, Set, Read!” which starts on Saturday 8th July.

Designed to keep children reading over the Summer Holidays, the Summer Reading Challenge is a fun, free activity that broadens reading horizons, improves mental wellbeing, encourages a healthy reading habit and helps to maintain reading levels ready for the start of the next academic year. The benefits of the challenge extend to the wider community with many families taking the opportunity to join the library whilst their children participate.

To complete the Summer Reading Challenge, a child reads six library books of their choice, returning to the library to share what they have been reading with staff and volunteers.  Each participant receives a collector folder and is awarded stickers for every book they read. Children who complete the challenge are presented with a certificate, a medal and a special finishing gift.

Ready, Set, Read! is prepared by the The Reading Agency in partnership with the Youth Sports Trust, and delivered by libraries across the UK. The 2023 sports and games theme aims to keep children’s minds and bodies active.

Arriving in the morning: Please try not to block the entrance to the nursery when you are dropping your child, as lots of adults in the area can be overwhelming for our children. Say goodbye to them at the lunchbox trolley and let them walk into nursery independently. A polite reminder that the door closes at 8.45am, if all children could arrive before this time please.

Measles: Please see the attached letter sent on behalf of Geraldine Bruce, Head of Health Protection, Public Health

Budge Up Day Thurs 13th July: Can we ask all our  families who are transitioning to primary school (not St Marys) to email us their arrangements for budge up day please, as every school is different. Unfortunately we cannot manage children arriving late or leaving early through the office, therefore we will have our door opening times as 8.30-8.45am & 11.45am. Collection times will either be 11.30am or 2.45pm.  You will not be able to drop off or collect your child outside of these times this day. It will be an authorised absence if your child cannot attend due to this reason. Thank you for your understanding with this.

If your child is not moving to a primary school this will be a normal day for them.

Budge Up day: children transitioning to St Marys: is taking place on Thursday 13th July, 10am – 11.30am.

To minimise disruption and to ensure your child is relaxed and ready for their important transitional visit we ask that you keep them at home that morning and do not bring them to nursery before their visit.

If your child attends for 30 hours or is booked into our wraparound that day, we will open the doors at 11.45am to welcome them. Please queue in the usual area until the doors open and ensure your child has a packed lunch with them.

We know how important transition visits are for the children and we want to make this a positive experience for them as they start their journey into school. If you would like to keep your child off for the whole day please let the office know by emailing admin@tenterfield.herts.sch.uk

With only two weeks left of term, we are looking forward to having lots of fun with the children. Have a lovely weekend. See you Monday.
