Dear parents and Carers,
Welcome to the Tenterfield family! This is my first ‘Heads Up…’ email of the academic year. I write to families weekly, to inform you of activities and events happening in the nursery, and also any key messages which need to be communicated. The ‘Heads Up…’ is always added to our website: https://tenterfield.herts.sch.uk/about-us/heads-up/
I must start with the extremely sad news we received on Thursday; the passing of our lovely Queen. The whole Tenterfield community are very saddened, and would like to thank Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II for her 70 years of dedicated service. The subject of death can be very difficult for very young children and we shall be talking to them very sensitively next week. We will be making a commemorative display where the children will have the opportunity to draw pictures or share their thoughts. It has now been announced that Monday 19th September is a national bank holiday.
Water bottles: Please do not put juice in your child’s water bottle. Water only please.
Wet clothes: Many children are coming home in their spare clothes. Please do not worry about this! The children are having a wonderful time in the large puddles in our garden. We do put a wet suit on every child but these unfortunately are not 100% waterproof. Can we please ask that every child has a continual supply of spare clothes. If you have not bought in your child’s wellies to be kept at nursery please do ASAP.
Socks: We are extremely short of spare socks. If your child comes home in clothes from the nursery, please can these be returned. If you have socks that can be donated these would be greatly appreciated.
Arrival at Nursery: As discussed at our parent meeting, we encourage children to come into nursery independently in the morning. Whilst the children are settling we welcome adults in, but as your child settles please send them in independently. The corridor can become quite congested, and overwhelming for our children who are coming in by themselves.
Lunchtime– The children have approx 30mins to eat their lunch (longer if needed) therefore can we please ask that their lunch boxes contain an appropriate amount of food as some children are struggling to eat everything in the time given. We suggest a sandwich, fruit and a treat.
Family photos: Have we received your family photo? These are an important part of the key worker base areas. We promote a ‘sense of belonging’ and every child having their family picture helps them to feel safe and secure.
Tapestry: Have you logged on? Remember, all bump notes are being shared on Tapestry so it is crucial you are receiving these. Any problems, please just ask!
Harvest Festival: Will take place at St Marys church on Tuesday 4th October. The children will need to be bought to the church this day after 9am, not Tenterfield (precise timings to be confirmed ASAP.) We have a short service together and parents are invited. The children will start to learn harvest songs that they will perform to you in the church. If children are booked into breakfast club then we will walk them down to the church.
McMillan Coffee morning: Friday 30th Sept. Donations of cakes would be greatly appreciated please.
Looking forward to another fun week together,
