Heads Up…12/03/23

Dear parents and carers,

Let’s hope the weather improves a bit this week. Last week was very cold, I think we are all hoping Spring is round the corner!

Eggciting news! Next week we have a very special delivery to the nursery. Keep an eye on tapestry to see what arrives!!

Mother’s Day: at Tenterfield we like to celebrate all the special people in children’s lives, this could be a grandparent, aunt, sister, carer or a close friend. We will have a ‘shop’ open on Friday 17th March for your child to chose a special gift to take home. We need your help to supply and stock our shop. Please could you donate one or two items, these could be smellies, chocolate, candles, etc. These could be re-gifted items, please don’t feel that you need to buy something new. We need enough items for every child to be able to ‘buy’ a gift for their family/friend. Thank you for your support. Please bring gifts in before Friday

On Friday 17th March would like to invite the pink group & 15hr parents in at 11.15am for a story together and a visit to the shop. Please can our 30hr parents arrive at 2.30am on the 17th March for a story together and a visit to the shop.

Lucy’s Marathon update: an important update from Lucy- “I want to say a huge thank you to all who have sponsored me so far, I’ve been training really hard and sadly have experienced some difficulties with my knees. It turns out my body isn’t conducive with running due to the structure of my knee caps. It is unlikely that I will be able to run the marathon with the gusto that I had originally hoped, however, I am not prepared to give up, one way or another, I will cross that finish line! Every little helps, so if you haven’t donated already the just giving link is https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/tenterfield-nursery – thank you so much!”

Wraparound communication: As I’m sure you may be aware Mrs Borland has joined us as wraparound lead.

Rhoda has now handed over all wraparound finance to Mrs Borland. For all future wraparound payments queries or credits using childcare vouchers and tax-free childcare, please email wraparound@tenterfield.herts.sch.uk and Cc admin@tenterfield.herts.sch.uk so we can ensure a smooth transition.

Tissue Appeal! If anyone would like to donate a box of tissues to the nursery they are always greatly appreciated. There are a lot of runny noses at the moment and we cannot keep up with the amount of tissues we are having to buy every week. With over 80 noses to wipe these can deplete very quickly! As they say…”every little helps!” Thank you for your support!

Book tokens: we have quite a few book tokens left over from world book day. Please pop into the office and ask Rhoda if you would like any extra.

Easter egg hunt – On Thursday 30th March we are going to ALL (15hr & 30hr groups) go forest school for an fun Easter session. We would like to invite you to join us too. 9am-10.30am. There may even be a special visitor!

The pink group will have their own Easter fun in our nursery garden that day too!

Garden Day: On Saturday 22nd April we will have our annual garden make over day where staff, governors and parents come together to have a ‘Spring clean’ of our garden. 10am-12pm. Please bring gardening tools. Unfortunately children are unable to attend due to having tools and equipment in the garden. You will be rewarded with bacon sandwiches and a hot drink for all your hard work.

Forest School helpers– It is red and orange groups turn to visit forest school this week. We will keep an eye on the weather, and hope that we will be able to go. Thank you to everyone who has signed up to come on Thursday. We would love you ALL to join us please! Please wait under the canopy at 8.55am

This weeks story is The Odd Egg by Emily Gravett, watch the story together here. https://youtu.be/XDwmrXJ5UO8

Each week we focus on key words/vocabulary that we would like the children to learn. This week our words are:

Can you use them in different contexts with your children? Watch this video about the importance of real life experiences and books/stories to teach children new vocabulary from an early age: https://youtu.be/-gFjiyBHZo4
